Are you trying so hard to keep a big
secret that you're setting up an environment that is guaranteed to
expose the secret sooner?...John
Management idea
In 1944 General Eisenhower held the
greatest secret of the war - the exact details of the invasion of the
European continent. The press was hell bent on being the first to
learn the secret. It was only a matter of time before someone would find
and leak it.
In a brilliant move Eisenhower
called all the newsmen in, locked the doors, and proceeded to present
the entire D-day invasion plan with all its details. "You now
hold the lives of thousands of young men in your hands" Ike said. There
wasn't a single leak.
We have a client that was in the
midst of a major merger. If customers learned of the merger
through the rumor mill their trust in the company would be severely
damaged. Legal constraints prevented informing the customers, but after
the papers were signed instead of trying to hide the merger, the entire
company was informed and sworn to secrecy.
There wasn't a single leak.
