Every now and then you find
that common sense no longer applies. Are you spending more than
you have to when you are required to travel on short notice? ...John
Cost savings idea
Out of the blue came an opportunity
for one of our clients to bid on a major contract. The prospect's
decision was imminent so time was of the essence. This required a
quick development of a proposal and a big presentation in a couple of
days by the key players.
Five people flying to Dallas in
the middle of the week on short notice. Premium airfare, an
overnight stay and the loss of a day and a half to make a half day
presentation. Big bucks and a windfall for American
Airlines. Or was it?
Our client rented an airplane
complete with two pilots for the day. They left very early in the morning from
an airport located near their headquarters. They polished their
presentation on the plane ride, landing at a regional airport located
near the prospect. After an great presentation they had a leisurely
flight back, time to debrief, and everyone got to sleep in their own
beds.
And what did it cost? Less
than half what the "common sense" approach of using a
commercial carrier.
